Week 8: Parks of Albany

Grand Prairie is a highly popular park around the town of Albany. The ducks located at Grand Prairie Park have grown to be fearless of humans. People often visit the park to play basketball, walk a little trail, or just sit and enjoy the peace. Locals are known to feed the ducks. It's a rule to stay away from bread when you're feeding ducks; as it doesn't have nutritional value for them and it will fill their stomach leaving no storage for the food they naturally eat. There are oats, cracked corn, thawed frozen peas, along with many other healthy alternatives.

As soon as the light peaks through the silhouettes of the trees the ducks emerge from their slumber and speak loudly for whoever will listen.
 
 
Deerfield Park is another widely known park in Albany, Oregon. It's often remembered for its big yellow slide that sits in the middle of the playground. Its a fantastic location to bring your dog if they love to run around. Additionally throughout the year there are multiple minute miniscule beautiful moments to capture. Such as this bright yellow blooming Dandelion. November.

Holidays Away from Home

On November 23 I drove to the home of my friend. It was decided when my family chose to host the Thanksgiving of my extended family in our house. These people don't like me for no reason other then my existence. I couldn't spend another holiday surrounded by hate. This was the first year I was able to make the choice for myself to try to find peace and love on this day. This is a road leading away from my their house in Lorane Oregon; we headed to Cottage Grove early on the morning of the 24th; for our first "dinner" that was planned to begin at noon. Week Seven: November Eleventh

  The Albany Presbyterian Church and Rectory, (also known as Whitespires); is a historic church building in downtown Albany, Oregon. It was built in 1891 in the Carpenter Gothic style. The group is run as a Non - Denominational/ Independent church. November 11 Every November 11 folks in Albany line up to watch the annual Veterans Day parade. It is often quite cold. Here is Emma Butler, she is a resident of Albany for over 21 years; walking once again (as she does every year) to find the best spot to sit in.  In the early hours of November 11 members of the town volunteer to set flags up around the town of Albany. This is a tradition of the parade. Families are even known to set up their chairs and walk around the small, quiet town that is Albany, Oregon prior to the event.

Bill Bernstein

  Bill Bernstein is actively a portrait photographer for editorial, healthcare, advertising, music, and fine art based in New York City. He is an internationally celebrated, award winning portrait and documentary photographer. His career began at a newspaper, the Village Voice in the 1970s. Since then his methodology was one of researching and representing contemporary subcultures through his photography. Bernstein felt compelled by Anthropology and he wanted to document humans being humans within his work. He is most known for his photography of the notorious 1970's night scene; specifically late 1970’s when clubs such as Studio 54 and Paradise Garage were at their peak. He is known as well for his time spent with Paul McCartney as his personal photographer; this began in the late 80’s and he continued working with him through his tour in 2005, traveling the world with Paul Mcartney’s team.
