Week Three - Around Town

This week my goal was to focus my attention around town. We have a wide variety of different styles of graffiti art. I've always noticed graffiti most prominently on trains passing by.

This is the same stationary train from multiple different perspectives. The trains are located on the tracks just off Lochner Rd SE, through Marion St SE in Albany, Oregon.

On November 23 I drove to the home of my friend. It was decided when my family chose to host the Thanksgiving of my extended family in our house. These people don't like me for no reason other then my existence. I couldn't spend another holiday surrounded by hate. This was the first year I was able to make the choice for myself to try to find peace and love on this day. Week 8: Parks of Albany

Grand Prairie is a highly popular park around the town of Albany.   The ducks located at Grand Prairie Park have grown to be fearless of humans. People often visit the park to play basketball, walk a little trail, or just sit and enjoy the peace. Locals are known to feed the ducks. It's a rule to stay away from bread when you're feeding ducks; as it doesn't have nutritional value for them and it will fill their stomach leaving no storage for the food they naturally eat. There are oats, cracked corn, thawed frozen peas, along with many other healthy alternatives. The sun rising over a newly built apartment complex; viewed from the Grand Prairie parking lot. Lynsey Addario Book Report

       Lynsey Addario is a well known American photojournalist who was born in 1973. She’s best known for covering conflict, humanitarian crises, and women's issues around the Middle East and Africa on assignment for The New York Times and National Geographic. She released a biography in 2015 in which she pieced together the timeline of the life she had lived thus far.        My favorite story she told within the memoir was her first hand experience of the event on September 11. She explained it from the start, “One morning in September… We darted up the stairs to Marions apartment. I sat down in front of her television and saw the twin towers on fire. Half- asleep, I didn't realize the planes had smashed into them on purpose… People were jumping. My mind flashed to the women in wedding gowns I had once photographed on the roof…”(Pg 65) This part of the story stood out in my mind as it was shocking that as a photojournalist she experienced two different events at these towers.
